Jim Lewis

Tue, 15/10/2013 - 13:50

Last weekend we learned of the passing of former Glentoran player, Jim Lewis. Described in Roy France's book as a utility player, Jim featured mainly as a full back or half back. He made his debut in the 1948-49 season and went on to make 158 appearances for the Glens, including playing in the 'Back to the Oval' game against Linfield and the three epic Irish Cup final games against Derry City in 1954; Jim being named 'Man of the Match' in the second match. By the time Jim Lewis finished at the Oval at the end of the 1955-56 season he'd scored 14 goals.

During the close season Glentoran manager Eddie Patterson and his assistant, Tiernan Lynch made it known that they would like to have games videoed to assist in post match analysis. The Internet GSC found out about this request and purchased a camera and all the ancillary kit which was presented to Eddie prior to the Linfield game on Tuesday night. The equipment will be operated by Aaron Agnew to whom the club is very grateful.

Pictured making the presentation to Eddie are Internet GSC Chairman, David Griffiths and Jodie Killops.
