Glentoran continued their push for a European place with a comprehensive 4-0 win over a lacklustre Ballinamallard United side. A brace from Curtis Allen along with strikes from Steven Gordon and Fra McCaffrey ensured that Eddie Patterson’s side remained in fifth place and four points adrift of European qualification.
Glentoran face Ballinamallard Utd in the Danske Bank Premiership at the Oval on Friday evening (kick-off 8pm). The Glens currently occupy 5th spot in the table, 6 points behind 4th placed Cliftonville. Ballinamallard Utd are in 10th position but with a 9 point cushion over basement side Institute.
As the nights start to get brighter it’s a sure sign that our Academy is about to get busier and busier. The “business end” of the season fast approaches and games come thick and fast - so too do the demands on our young players.
A prime example of this is our current Under 15s as they continue to fight on three fronts while several players hope to be selected for Northern Ireland’s trip to a three team tournament in Belgium and Milk Cup Country trials are now under way.
The Danske Bank Premiership post-split fixtures have been announced. Glentoran's fixtures are as follows:
Saturday 4th April (3pm) Glenavon (away)
Tuesday 7th April (7.45pm) Linfield (home)
Saturday 11th April (3pm) Portadown (home)
Saturday 18th April (3pm) Crusaders (away)
Saturday 25th April (3pm) Cliftonville (home)
All our remaining fixtures (with hopefully an Irish Cup Final to be added) are available HERE.

With Calum Birney sitting out a one match suspension and Jay Magee still out due to injury Glentoran manager, Eddie Patterson was dealt a further blow when Willie Garrett was ruled out in the pre-match warm up. Barry Holland moved to the centre of the defence to partner Johnny Addis with Niall Henderson dropping back from midfield to occupy the right back position.
Prior to today's game at Portadown, Jordan Stewart signed a new contract which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2017-18 season.
