Cup Final Heroes- Terry Conroy

Sun, 26/04/2015 - 16:57

In 1965/66 Glentoran ended a 15 year wait to pick up the Irish Cup crown for an 8th time, once again against the old enemy Linfield. Terry Conroy was the hero on the day, scoring both goals in a 2-0 victory. Conroy was born in Dublin and signed for Glentoran at the age of 19 following a spell with Home Farm. He signed for the Glens and went straight into the squad for the Seconds in the Steel and Sons Cup Final victory over Larne.

Glentoran finished the 2014/15 Danske Bank Premiership campaign with victory at home to Cliftonville in an encounter that broadly possessed a pre-season friendly feel to it, with both clubs having their final league positions confirmed though of course for the Glens there was the small matter of cup final places up for grabs.

Cup Final Heroes- Willie Lindsay

Wed, 22/04/2015 - 21:45

1914 is a year forever etched in the Glentoran history books. The Vienna Cup triumph at the end of the 1913-14 season was one of the most memorable tournaments in Glentoran's history. Still today our fans like to remind the rest of the island that we are 'the only team in Ireland with a European Cup' but despite that success it wasn't the only piece of Glentoran history made that season. 1914 was the first time Glentoran won the showpiece of Irish football, the Irish Cup.
