Glentoran have been drawn at home to Championship 2 side PSNI in the second round of the JBE League Cup. This tie will be played at the Oval on Tuesday 1st September with a 7.45pm kick off. The Glens last played PSNI in August 2012, again in the second round of the League Cup, recording a 3-1 victory.
Two goals from Curtis Allen gave Glentoran their first Premiership victory of the season in a close encounter at the Oval this afternoon. Prior to kick off the fans bade farewell to last season’s Player of the Year Jordan Stewart as he heads to a career in full time football. The Swindon bound midfielder’s place was taken by Fra McCaffrey, Eddie Patterson otherwise naming an unchanged side from last week’s draw at Carrick.
Glentoran FC is pleased to announce the transfer of Jordan Stewart to Swindon Town. The transfer has been completed for an undisclosed fee and protective clauses relating to the usual career developments for Jordan and to sell on fees. We are delighted that the transfer was completed professionally and amicably between the two clubs in just over a week.
Glens of Dublin is the 7-a-side team of the Insaka-Glentoran Academy.
They play in our Seconds team kit donated by the club annually.
The small-sided game specialists come together over the summer months to play in tournaments and exhibition games. Last weekend the team played in the annual Eid World Cup at the Law Society grounds, Dublin for the benefit of the people of Nepal to help them recover from the recent earthquake. The event was organised by Sport Against Racism Ireland, Islamic Relief, Hijabs and Hatricks and Diverse City AFC.

Glentoran remain without a win in the Premiership after being held to a 1-1 draw by Carrick Rangers at Taylor’s Avenue this afternoon. After his red card in Wednesday night’s game against Crusaders Elliott Morris was serving an automatic suspension so Aaron Hogg took the goalkeeper’s jersey and manager Eddie Patterson brought Jonny Addis in to centre back with Jay Magee dropping to the bench.
