Glentoran welcome newly crowned Danske Bank Premiership champions Crusaders to the Oval on Saturday.

The match will bring a close to the domestic campaign, but the season is far from over for the Glens who are still in contention for a spot in Europe via the play-offs.

Although the league has already been wrapped up for Crusaders, tomorrow’s encounter could help Alan Kernaghan’s men rediscover the form that they'd shown before the Linfield defeat.

Glentoran will be looking to put Tuesday’s bitter defeat behind them with a big performance against Glenavon tomorrow.

The Glens were crestfallen after their unbeaten run stretching back to five matches came to a grinding halt following a 4-0 horror show against rivals Linfield at the Oval.

After the game, boss Alan Kernaghan admitted his team were “embarrassed”, and he will be determined to dilute the setback with a convincing showing against the Lurgan Blues.

Glentoran 0-4 Linfield

Wed, 20/04/2016 - 18:31

It's every football fans' worst nightmare as Glentoran were humiliated and made to look sub-standard by fierce rivals Linfield on their own patch last night, as the Blues battered a sorry Glens side 4-0 to ironic cries of 'can we play you every week?' from the away support. A sunny evening saw a decent turn-out for two sides with little to play for except the much coveted bragging rights, but within 3 minutes many in green and red probably wished they hadn't bothered.
