Match Preview

Mon, 29/08/2016 - 21:42

Glentoran travel to mid-Ulster to face Annagh United in the League Cup; kick-off 7:45pm.

The Glens will be looking to get back to winning ways following their very poor result and performance last Friday night at Coleraine in the Danske Bank Premiership.

Glentoran haven't lifted the League Cup since the 2009-10 season when we defeated Coleraine at Windsor Park. Another win is long overdue!

Glentoran Under 20s progressed through to the third round of the Toal's Bookmakers Steel and Sons Cup following a 2-1 win over Ballymena Provincial Intermediate side Brantwood.

The Glens freshened things up resting Paul O’Neill and Padraig Hughes who have seven goals between them in their opening four games.  That presented Mark Herdman the chance to start after patiently waiting in the wings.

In recent games the Glens were quicker off the block and scored early on but it wasn't the case against a Portadown side with 3 first team players in their back 4.

Sun, 21/08/2016 - 00:25

The Chairman, Directors and staff of Glentoran Football Club would like to offer condolences on the death of lifelong Glenman Dessie Meehan, father in law of our club secretary Ricky Rea. Dessie, originally from Westbourne Street and latterly resident in Bangor, was a season ticket holder for over 60 years. He often travelled to away games with the North Down GSC. Dessie is survived by his widow May, and his daughters Deborah, Karen and Jean and grandchildren Ricky Jnr, Suzi and Kellie. Deborah is often seen helping out in the secretary's office on matchdays.

Portadown 0-1 Glentoran

Sat, 20/08/2016 - 22:32

Kym Nelson's strike, early in the second half, earned the Glens all 3 points at Shamrock Park and moved them up to 6th place in the Danske Bank Premiership.

Following the bitter disappointment of last week’s defeat at The Oval, a large contingent of Glentoran supporters made their way to Shamrock Park hoping for a better performance from their wee team and getting the league campaign properly started.

It is often said that football can be a game of two halves and this certainly proved to be the case this afternoon.
