150 Milestone for Paddy

Wed, 04/10/2023 - 18:34

Warmest congratulations to Patrick McClean on making his 150th appearance for  Glentoran in Saturday's match at Carrick.

Paddy joined us from Derry City in the close season of 2019, immediately established himself as a big crowd favourite, and apart from a spell last season has been a constant at the heart of our defence ever since, including our Irish Cup run and win at the end of his first season here.

Congratulations Paddy.

Glentoran 2-0 Dollingstown

Wed, 04/10/2023 - 00:17

A very young Glens team got the job done this evening at the Bet McLean Oval to go through to the next round of the Bet McLean Cup.

Warren Feeney gave Under 19s Johnny Russell, Leon Boyd and Rhys Walsh a start tonight with Ollie Webber, Cammy Palmer and Sean Murray also returning to the starting lineup. Most pleasing however was the return of Harry Murphy to the first team since his bad injury sustained v Linfield back in April.

Tue, 03/10/2023 - 01:39

This showdown between the two contenders for the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership lived up to its billing at Ashfield tonight.

Cliftonville had the better of the opening exchanges, without causing too many problems for a resolute home defence and opened the scoring on 17 minutes when Caitlin McGuinness neatly touched the ball home after a left wing run and cross from her sister Kirsty.

Young Glens in international triumph

Fri, 29/09/2023 - 20:34

Four of our young players were involved with the Northern Ireland Under 16 squad this week as the squad scored wins over Finland and Estonia in international friendlies at Ferney Park, Ballinmallard.

The Glentoran players involved were Jayden Charnley, Jack Faloona, George Feeney, and Darragh McCann.

In Tuesday’s 3-2 win over Finland, George Feeney set up the first goal of the match as Northern Ireland took the lead through Glenn McCourt. The game looked like petering out for a 2-2 draw until our own Jayden Charnley powerfully headed home an 85th minute winner.

Match Preview: Carrick Rangers v Glentoran

Fri, 29/09/2023 - 00:52

We travel to Carrickfergus on Saturday looking to arrest our last two poor performances and get back to winning ways.

Carrick were widely tipped to finish comfortably in mid table, after making a number of impressive summer signings, but have found themselves in 11th place after a difficult start to the campaign, which has seen them collect only 7 points from their first 9 games and concede 26 goals, the highest number in the division.
