It may be Monday night but there’s another bumper edition of the Glentoran Gazette on sale for our Premiership game against Institute.  Our history men, Brian McClelland and Roy Downes, have the final parts of the stories of Con Martin and Sammy Pavis, Eddy Patrick interviews veteran goalkeeper Elliott Morris while John Grayden has the first of a two part interview with manager Mick McDermott.  Sam Robinson reflects on the prospects of a new artificial pitch at the Oval and his family connections with the famous old ground and we have a chat with Academy Development Manager Stephen Lowry.

Hrvoje is August Player of the Month

Sun, 01/09/2019 - 19:07

Hrvoje Plum has celebrated his first month at Glentoran by winning the Glentoran Player of The Month for August.

Hrvoje won 26% of the supporters' vote in a keenly contested ballot after a month when he scored with a great strike against Coleraine and had a number of excellent efforts in our other games, particularly at Ballymena Showgrounds.

Mick McDermott said of the vote: “Hrvoje has given us a taste of what can do during this first month. Glentoran fans have always had a good eye for quality players and by their votes they reinforce this!

Match Preview: Glentoran v Institute

Sun, 01/09/2019 - 13:25

Monday 2nd September 2019, Kick Off 7.45 pm

On Monday we meet Institute at the Oval in a match rescheduled for Sky TV following the postponement of Linfield v Larne. We go in on the back of two consecutive wins – our heroics at Ballymena Showgrounds last week and our convincing midweek 5-1 home win over Ballyclare Comrades in the BetMcLean League Cup.

Institute are currently 11th in the table with three defeats and a draw from their first four games but had a very commendable draw with Coleraine to get things back on track after a difficult start.

Glentoran U20 2-0 Ballymena United U20

Wed, 28/08/2019 - 23:50

The Wee Glens  turned in a vastly improved performance this evening as they controlled this game virtually all night and racked up a total of 28 goal attempts as they looked to get back on track after two dissapointing performances.

The game was notable for Glentoran Academy starlet Ethan Warnock making his debut for Ballymena United and we wish him well in his career there.

On the other hand there were a couple of competitive u20 debuts for Glentoran with Jonny Russell, Elliott Wood, Shay Burns and Aaron Boyd making their competitive bows for the Glens off the bench.
