Glentoran Women 1-2 Cliftonville Ladies

Thu, 04/07/2024 - 23:55

Three minutes of shambolic defending at the start of the second half cost the reigning champions both their 100% record and place at the top of the table with this defeat at the Blanchflower this evening.

The Glens welcomed back top scorers Kerry Beattie and Emily Wilson who both missed last week’s win over Larne. But it was the visitors who had the first effort tonight through Caitlin McGuinness but it was well saved by Ashleigh McKinnon.

Match Preview: Glentoran Women v Cliftonville Ladies

Wed, 03/07/2024 - 14:20

A massive game in store at the Blanchflower tomorrow night as the 2 dominant teams in NI Women’s Football in the past few seasons – the only 2 with a 100% league record so far – meet in the Sports Direct Premiership.

The Reds have had first blood between the teams this season, winning 3-2 at Solitude in April in the Semi Final of the League Cup. On that occasion the Reds came back to win after trailing 2-1 through goals from Emily Wilson and Demi Vance. The Reds went on to win the final last weekend with a 2-0 win over Lisburn Rangers Ladies.
