Glentoran v Linfield

Tue, 19/04/2016 - 15:57

Glentoran will be looking to extend their recent unbeaten run when they face Linfield at the Oval this evening.

Manager, Alan Kernaghan is likely to have Jay Magee back in the squad after the big central defender missed last Saturday's fine victory at Solitude against Cliftonville. A win for the Glens and a defeat for Coleraine away to Glenavon could see the East Belfast side move into 5th position in the Danske Bank Premiership.

Tickets ARE NOT REQUIRED for this fixture although anyone who had purchased one may use it at the appropriate turnstile.

Cliftonville 0-2 Glentoran

Sat, 16/04/2016 - 22:02

Two second half goals were enough to give Glentoran a convincing victory at Solitude this afternoon; their first league win at the North Belfast venue since 2011. Glens manager Alan Kernaghan made two changes to the side that drew at Coleraine last Saturday with Fra McCaffrey coming in for Stevie McCullough and Steven Gordon slotting in at centre back for Jay Magee who became ill overnight. Glentoran came in unbeaten in 4 whilst Cliftonville hadn’t lost any of their previous 3 games.

Glentoran’s march towards a fifth place league finish continues tomorrow when they travel to Solitude to face Cliftonville.

A 10 point return from their last four games has helped propel the Glens to within a touching distance from Coleraine, who sit above them in fifth spot in the Danske Bank Premiership.

Despite an inconsistent start to 2016, the season is far from over for the East Belfast side, who are still in contention of qualifying for Europe via the play-offs.

Coleraine 1-1 Glentoran

Sat, 09/04/2016 - 21:19

Glentoran fought back from a goal down and were unlucky not to take all 3 points against Coleraine this afternoon. On Easter Tuesday, when the two sides met at the Oval, it was the home side who scored early and then held on to claim the win. For much of the game today it looked like we were going to witness the reverse.

THE BELFAST BLITZ REMEMBERED

On the evening of the 4th May 1941 and in the early hours of the following morning, the lives of the people who make up the community which exists around the home of Glentoran Football Club, The Oval, the Harland and Wolff shipyard, and Short and Harland aircraft factory in the east of the city, were about to change forever.

In the league split opener, the Glens clash with Oran Kearney’s men for the second time in as many games.

Last time out, the East Belfast side claimed all the spoils at the Oval, bringing the calendar schedule to a close.

Glentoran Academy Update

Mon, 04/04/2016 - 21:42

Over the Easter break Glentoran Academy were proudly represented on the international scene and once again, in a week of International tournaments for Northern Ireland, Glentoran Academy provided more players to the NI set up than any other club.

Something we are immensely proud of and hope to see continuing for a long time to come!

We had Charlie Lindsay captain Northern Ireland under 12s in a tournament in Spain alongside his Glentoran team mates Sean Brown, Harry Wilson and Matthew Carson.
