250 Club: Johnny welcomed by team mates

Sun, 17/12/2023 - 11:58

An incredible total of 1435 Glentoran appearances, 375 Glentoran goals and 47 winners medals for Glentoran got together this week when fellow club legends and league and cup winning Glens skippers Jim Cleary and Barney Bowers visited the Flying Angel Johnny Jameson this week to present him with his new membership card for the Glentoran 250 Club. Johnny was unable to make the recent presentation ceremony at the Bet McLean Oval.

Glentoran 1 - 0 Newry City

Sat, 16/12/2023 - 17:23

Glentoran secured all three points this afternoon with a dogged victory against bottom side Newry City. A lacklustre performance from the home side was perhaps explained by Aidan Wilson being sent off in the 28th minute, ensuring the Glens had to play over an hour with ten men. In a game of few chances and little quality, Glens supporters will note that the team showed a strong defensive resilience to grind out an important three points.

Tomorrow's Gazette

Fri, 15/12/2023 - 16:00

In the last Glentoran Gazette before Christmas Warren Feeney says that, while he is pleased with the recent result against Linfield and thought we played well against a very good team last weekend, we will need to produce another top drawer performance against Newry City, a side he thought was unlucky to be knocked out of the League Cup in midweek. He is also happy to have Rhys Marshall back and is looking forward to seeing him get up to speed.

Cliftonville 2-2 Glentoran

Sat, 09/12/2023 - 18:05

This draw leaves Glentoran fifth in the Sports Direct Premiership, 14 points off the top of and 10 points behind today’s third placed opponents and today’s game was a perfect example of the reason for that. With this draw we have now dropped no fewer than 15 points from 6 games we had led in the second half. This inability to see out games is fast becoming the story of our season and the source of great frustration to the Glens support.

On Saturday we start the second half of the Sports Direct Premiership season when we make our first visit of the season to Solitude.
