Under 20s Remain Unbeaten

Glentoran Under 20s followed up Saturdays 5-2 victory against Ballinamallard with a 3-2 win against Dungannon Swifts this evening at the Dungannon Junior Stadium. 

Glentoran went ahead after 2 minutes, a excellent counter attack was finished off by Kym Nelson following an effort by Alex Lalor. The Wee Glens kept the ball well for the opening 30 minutes until Ciaran Clougherty made it 2-0, Cafolla gathered the ball in midfield before playing to Clougherty who drove forward before hammering home an effort from 22 yards into the top corner. Dungannon grabbed a goal back before half time, a set piece wasn't defended as theSwifts player took advantage to score.

In the second half Glentoran started the better side following a talking to during the break. A couple of half chances from both sides before Alex Lalor restored Glentoran's two goal cushion. Kai Wardlow played the ball in, a driven run forward from Lalor before a cheeky chip over the oncoming keeper. Karl Hamill and Patrick Cafolla came close but couldn't quite hit the target. Dungannon grabbed their second with 6 minutes to go, a long ball forward from left to right before an inswinging cross to the back post was finished off by the Swifts forward. Substitute Brent Ritchie had a chance following some great skill, that was saved by the keeper. The Glens held on to close out the game winning 3-2. 

 

Their next game is Wednesday 23rd August against Carrick Rangers.
