Two In A Row for Cricky

Thu, 04/02/2021 - 15:03

We are delighted to announce that the dor the second consecutive month, the winner of the supporters’ vote as January Glentoran Player of the Month is Cricky Gallagher.

This is Cricky's fifth montly award in just over two years with the club. No mean feat for a 21-year old midfielder often charged with the less glamorous taks on the pitch. He has had more game time than any other Glentoran player so far this season, playing in nineteen of our twenty matches and starting eighteen.

Cricky won an outstanding 59% of the vote, with Robbie McDaid as runner up. Robbie's solo effort v Carrick Rangers was voted our Goal of the Month with an overwhelming 63%.

Cricky said on being told of his award: "Just want to say a big thank you to all the supporters that took the time to vote for me again and also a shout out to my team mates for pushing me each day in training to be the best I can be. I will continue to give 110% for the shirt in every game I play. Hopefully its not much longer before we have the best fans in the league back at the Oval supporting the team!"

Mick McDermott:"Chris has been a consistent performer since last season and has had some big games for us including last season's Irish  Cup success and our subsequent European run. His performances are the result of the dedication in his preparation - he trains well and is a serious professional on and off the pitch.
He is still only 21 and has a bright future ahead of him."

Well done yet again Cricky.
