Glentoran Football Club can confirm that defender Sofie Keenan has completed a permanent transfer to Hibernian Women for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old joined Glentoran from Linfield Women ahead of the 2024 season and went on to make 73 senior appearances for the Club across domestic and European competition, comprising 40 league appearances, 29 cup appearances and four appearances in Europe.

During her time at The BetMcLean Oval, the Northern Ireland U17 and U19 international established herself as one of the brightest young defenders in the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership and helped Glentoran secure the 2025 Sports Direct Women’s Premiership title.

Her progress was also recognised when she was named Glentoran Women Young Player of the Year in 2025 following an impressive campaign.

Kim Turner, Glentoran Women First Team Manager, said: “We’re obviously disappointed to lose Sofie because she’s been an important player for us, but this is a fantastic opportunity for her and one she has earned.

“Since joining the Club, she’s grown enormously as both a player and a person. Her performances have been consistently excellent, she played a big part in us winning the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership title last season and it was no surprise to see her recognised as our Young Player of the Year.

“At Glentoran, we’re proud to give young players the platform to develop and progress, and Sofie’s move is another example of that. Everyone at the Club wishes her every success at Hibernian and we’ll be following her career with great interest.”
