A composed second-half performance saw a youthful Glentoran Select XI secure a 3–0 win over Ballymacash Rangers at the Bluebell Stadium on Monday evening, continuing the Glens’ positive pre-season momentum.
Following an even opening 45 minutes, it was Academy graduate Jude Johnson who broke the deadlock after the interval, rifling home a superb long-range effort to give the visitors a deserved lead.
Cal Weatherup doubled the advantage soon after with a confident finish into the bottom corner, having cut in smartly from the left flank to round off a swift counter-attack.
Johnson capped off a standout performance with his second of the night, latching onto a precise through ball before calmly slotting past the Ballymacash goalkeeper to make it 3–0.
The result marked another valuable step in Glentoran’s preparations for the 2025/26 campaign, with a number of emerging talents catching the eye in a professional and disciplined display.
We extend our thanks to Ballymacash Rangers for their warm hospitality and wish them well for the season ahead.
