Seconds looking for your support in Steel & Sons semi..

Tue, 27/11/2012 - 23:18

On Friday night (30th Nov.) Glentoran Seconds take on Ballyclare Comrades in the first semi-final of the Steel & Sons Cup at Seaview. The winners will face either Immaculata of the Amateur League or Championship 1 leaders Ards in the Christmas morning final.

Although the Seconds have won the trophy 13 times, the players and staff are taking anything for granted. Seconds' boss Spike Hill's commented; “We are really the underdogs here. Ballyclare Comrades are going well in Championship 2 and can call on 18-20 experienced players, whereas we will be a young squad with maybe a little bit of experience.”

He continued, “ I hope the whole Glens family will come out and support the young lads as they usually do. For most of these kids this will be their biggest test so far, and to possibly play in front of a packed Seaview on Christmas morning would be a truly wonderful occasion for them. I know Ballyclare have been drumming up support around the town, and whilst lots of people are saying nice things about the young players coming through at our club, here is a great chance to have a look at them first hand and give them your support.

Why not make it a real Red, Green and Black weekend by supporting the Seconds at Seaview on Friday night and then the first team at the Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Kick off at the North Belfast venue on Friday is 7-45pm and admission is £5 for adults and £3 concession.
