An entertaining affair at the Bet McClean Oval this evening finished 2-2, ultimately a very disappointing finish for Glentoran. . The adage of a game of two halves has never been more appropriate; Glentoran will rue their second half performance after cruising to a 2-0 half time lead. With Cliftonville forcing an equaliser deep inside second-half stoppage time, Glentoran will feel this represents two points dropped.

Obituary: Gary Cowan

Glentoran Football Club was sorry to hear of the sad passing of lifelong Glenman, Gary Cowan.

Gary joined the Ballymacarrett Glentoran Supporters Club as a teenager at its founding in 1975. Sadly, Gary will not be with his club to celebrate its 50th anniversary next year.

Rhys off to the Mackems

The club is very pleased to announce that Rhys Walsh has signed for Sky Bet Championship club Sunderland.

Rhys (17) is the perfect example of a Glentoran Academy graduate, having joined the academy as a 10-year-old and developed through the ranks to make his first team debut last season in a 4-1 away win over Ards in the County Antrim Shield. Since then Rhys has made 8 appearances in total, most recently in last week’s Shield Final at Seaview.

Kirk McLaughlin has returned from a very successful loan spell with Institute in the PlayrFit Championship. He he has scored 13 goals in 28 games as ‘stute have risen to the top of the table. Striker Kirk (19) joined us from Coleraine in the summer of 2022 and scored twice in his six games for the club in his debut season. Warren Feeney said of Kirk’s return “I’ve watched Kirk play for Institute this season and he’s done very well in a very good side. His individual goal v Dundela a couple of weeks ago was a bit special  and rightly got a lot of attention.
