Glentoran defender and Academy graduate Jonny Russell has been named in the Northern Ireland U21 squad for this month’s UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers against Malta and Germany.
The U21s will face Malta on Thursday 9 October (Kick-Off 19:45) before taking on Group F top seeds Germany on Tuesday 14 October (Kick-Off 17:30) with both fixtures being staged at The BetMcLean Oval, Belfast.
Russell made his Northern Ireland U21 debut in March 2024 in a 2–1 victory over Serbia, before featuring in a 0–0 draw with England, and has since established himself as a key part of Tommy Wright’s squad.
