A youthful Glentoran Seconds side scored late to earn a 2–2 draw with Carrick Rangers Reserves at Ashfield.

With many of the Club’s first-team squad players not involved, the Glens named a young starting XI captained by Reece Bell.

Rory Magee opened the scoring following excellent work from Finlay Grummitt. Magee raced on to his teammate’s pass, held off two defenders and found the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area.

The Glens carried their 1–0 advantage into the interval, but Carrick responded after the restart through a second-half brace from Luke Connelly.

Those goals turned the game around and left Glentoran trailing 2–1 heading into the closing stages.

The young Glens continued to push for an equaliser and were rewarded with four minutes remaining.

Magee released Jay Forsythe, who advanced before cutting the ball back for substitute Jamison Rainey to score his first goal at reserve-team level.

Glentoran pressed for a winner during the remaining minutes, but Carrick held firm as the points were shared.

The result leaves Glentoran Seconds with seven points from their opening four NIFL Premiership Development League fixtures, following victories over Crusaders Reserves and Coleraine Reserves and a defeat against Portadown Reserves.
