Patrick Hoban has been named Sports Direct Player of the Month for January by the NI Football Writers’ Association.
The striker enjoyed a prolific month, scoring nine goals in January, including a remarkable six-goal performance against Carrick Rangers.
Hoban’s goals in January have taken his overall tally to 20 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions this season, underlining his impact since arriving at The BetMcLean Oval.
Reflecting on the award, Pat Hoban said: “As a striker I’ve always backed myself to score goals. I’m obviously delighted to have 20 in 25 games, although I feel like I probably should have more. I’ve missed a few chances in certain games, but that’s the nature of the job. Overall, it’s been a good return so far.
“These awards are nice to receive and it’s good recognition for the work you’re doing, but I wouldn’t be in this position without my teammates. They’re the ones putting balls into the box and creating chances for me.”
In the final voting, Hoban finished ahead of Carrick Rangers’ Adam Lecky with Glentoran midfielder Cameron Palmer placing third.
