Fri, 21/03/2025 - 12:00

Following the sad passing of Trevor Thompson, Glentoran Football Club’s all-time leading goalscorer, we reflect on his remarkable life and career through his own words.

In 2000, Trevor sat down with John Moore for an in-depth interview in the Glentoran Gazette. It beautifully captured his wit, humility, and enduring love for the club.

As a tribute, we are proud to republish the article. Trevor's insights offer a wonderful glimpse into the life of a true Glentoran legend.

Connolly demands big performance in Crusaders clash

Fri, 21/03/2025 - 11:08

Glentoran winger Dylan Connolly insists the squad must deliver a big performance as they prepare for Saturday’s final pre-split fixture against Crusaders at The BetMcLean Oval (Kick-off: 3:00pm).

With just one game remaining before the split, Glentoran sit second in the Sports Direct Premiership, three points ahead of Larne and four clear of Dungannon Swifts in the race for automatic European qualification. A victory would maintain their grip on second place, while anything less could leave the door open for their rivals.

Glentoran is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Trevor Thompson, our all-time leading goalscorer and one of the greatest players ever to wear the famous red, green and black.

Honours even as Glens settle for draw against Larne

Tue, 18/03/2025 - 22:42

Glentoran had to settle for a point this evening in an entertaining 2-2 draw with Larne in the Sports Direct Premiership at The BetMcLean Oval.

Joe Thomson scored twice against his former club either side of half-time, however Larne hit back with goals from Paul O’Neill and a penalty from Andy Ryan to level the game.

Under dry but cold conditions in east Belfast it was the Glens that settled faster under the lights and fans only had to wait 11 minutes until their team made a breakthrough.
