Nasseri voted February Player of The Month

Sun, 08/03/2020 - 21:03

Navid Nasseri has won the supporter vote as Glentoran Player of The Month for February.

In what’s been a more challenging month for the team, certainly in the Danske Bank Premiership, Navid won by a landslide with an incredible 69% of the vote. Robbie McDaid – scorer of a hat trick in the cup v Queens – and Ruadridh Donnelly were joint runners up.  The high spot of Navid’s month was his two great goals at Mourneview Park, the second of which also won him our Goal of the Month vote.

Navid said on being told of his win: “Obviously I’m very pleased to win the supporters vote and it’s nice to see my hard work and play appreciated and recognised by the fans. But really the key priority needs to be to get the team functioning and getting results in the league. That’s where our focus is, and we’ll keep working at it.”

Mick McDermott said of the vote: “Navid has had some impressive performances this past month, He is a player who can change games and he definitely excites our fans. He is enjoying his time at Glentoran and we are very glad to have him here.”

Lewis McGarvey wins U20s February Award

Glentoran U20 Player of the Month is Lewis McGarvey.

U20s Manager David Lowry: “Lewis has made a couple of first team appearances in what has been an another excellent and very consistent season for the classy defender.

Since Sean Gallagher departed for Distillery, Corai Quinn has taken on the captains armband but Lewis has also stepped up as a real leader on the pitch and this has shown in some very mature and commanding performances that were rounded off with a powerful headed goal in the last game of the month against Carrick.

It looks likely that Lewis will be moving to the USA in the summer for a full-time soccer scholarship. This is a great and we; deserved opportunity for Lewis but we will all miss him as he’s been at Glentoran from such a young age”.

Well done Lewis.
