Saturday 9th November
Kick Off 3pm
On Saturday we aim to bounce back to winning ways and up the table with a visit to Mourneview Park in match 16 of the Sports Direct Premiership.
Declan Devine has challenged his team to find the consistency needed to climb the league table and make their dominance on the pitch count: “Last week we were very dominant against Larne for all but about 6 or 7 minutes, but we were punished for not taking our chances. We’ve been creative and controlled many matches this season, but we need to show more conviction in the final third to turn opportunities into goals. I have every belief in this group of players, but we need to stop leaving points behind. We’re not far off where we want to be, and now it’s about making it count."
There’s been a very competitive edge to the league so far, and many games are decided by a single moment of brilliance. That’s why it’s vital we take our chances when they come and finish games off when we’re on top. I know this team has the ability to do just that.
We will be without the suspended Fuad Sule and James Singleton at Mourneview: “That’s disappointing as they’ve been 2 of our best and most consistent players, but this provides an opportunity to lads in the group who’ve waited for and are ready to take their chance. Charlie Lindsay and Harry Murphy played very well for the Seconds on Monday night in a 6-0 win at Carrick. Aaron Wightman also had a strong 75 minutes and is likely to in the squad for Mourneview. We’re monitoring Moko’s fitness closely to give him every chance to be involved."
In positive news, Johnny Russell has returned to training following a concussion sustained in pre-season. The manager welcomed his return:
"Having Johnny back is a huge boost for the team. We all know the quality he brings and the impact he had last season. His presence will be invaluable as we head into this crucial run of fixtures."
