Crusaders v Glentoran

Saturday 10th February, 3.00pm.

On Saturday we visit Seaview, for our third meeting of the season with Crusaders.

Our record against league leaders Crusaders this season, as in most recent years, is not a good one with two defeats and no goals scored. The 0-1 defeat at Seaview in December was more encouraging with a decent defensive performance from the Glens.  This week we’ll be hoping to go at least one better.

Crusaders have had a mixed couple of weeks, exiting the Bet McLean League Cup and Irish Cup in consecutive wins but continuing their strong league form with a 3-0 win over Carrick Rangers on Tuesday night. In the January window they strengthened their squad with the signings of Darren Murray from Warrenpoint Town and midfielder Johnny Bonnar from Finn Harps.

Manager Gary Haveron said on Thursday night: “We’ve a couple of doubts for Saturday. Willie Garrett and John McGuigan both limped off on Tuesday against Ballinamallard and are both very doubtful though I’ll give them every chance. They’re both not that long back from long term injuries and that can take its toll if we’re not careful with them. On a more positive note, Dylan Davidson is back after his one match suspension.

Although we’ve more or less a full squad now, with three matches in the next seven days that’ll be five in thirteen so we’ll need to use a lot of the squad against the Crues, Carrick and Ards as we need to get as many points from this run as possible”.
