Larne Women 0-3 Glentoran Women

Sat, 10/08/2024 - 18:51

Glentoran’s love affair with the Electric Ireland Women’s Challenge Cup continued tonight as this quarter final win means the team moved closer to its 6th successive final looking for its 6th successive win.

The Glens opened the scoring quickly when in the 7th minute when Emily Wilson was first to meet Jess Foy’s ball over the Larne defence to chip over Cerys Sharkey in the Larne goal.

Shortly afterwards skipper Foy went from provider to scorer when from a free kick into the box Nadene Caldwell nodded back for Jess to head home.

On the blow at the end of the half Jess got her second and the Glens’ third. This time from her own free kick as she shot directly into the top right-hand corner, leaving Sharkey stranded.

The score remained at that level with the Glens taking the opportunity to give a wide range of substitutes a healthy amount of game time. Next up is the final of the Toal’s Women’s Cup which will take place on Saturday 24th August at the Blanchflower Stadium (KO 7.45pm). The final is against holders Cliftonville Women so there’ll be a big crowd for the clash of Northern Ireland’s top 2 sides. .
