Glentoran closed the gap at the top of the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership to five points with an emphatic 6-0 victory over Lisburn Rangers at Crewe Park on Tuesday night.

Aimee Kerr and Gracie Conway both scored twice as Kim Turner’s side struck six goals without reply to move into second place in the table.

The Glens made the perfect start when Naomi McLaughlin, the division’s Player of the Week, opened the scoring after only two minutes. The forward met the ball first time on the edge of the penalty area and fired the visitors ahead.

Glentoran continued to threaten and doubled their advantage in the 33rd minute. Jenna McKearney delivered a dangerous low ball from the right and Kerr made no mistake with a composed finish.

The visitors resumed control after the interval and added a third five minutes into the second half. Conway showed persistence during a goalmouth scramble before finding the finish against her former club.

Glentoran struck again four minutes later. Kerr’s excellent corner picked out Faye Loughran, who converted to put Turner’s side firmly in command.

Conway claimed her second of the evening in the 58th minute, calmly finding the bottom-left corner to make it 5-0.

There was still time for a spectacular sixth, with Kerr producing the moment of the night in the 82nd minute. The midfielder completed her brace with an audacious lob from 25 yards to round off an impressive away performance.
