John Colrain - A Life in Football

Thu, 09/04/2015 - 10:45

This Saturday sees the launch of a book on the career of John Colrain written by Philip Stevenson, Chairman of the Glentoran Supporters Committee (1923). The launch will take place in the McLean's Suite at 1pm and members of the famous 'Cougars' team, managed by Colrain, will be in attendance along with members of John's family.

About 6 years ago Philip Stevenson covered Colrain's career in a series of articles in the Glentoran Gazette and from there the idea of the book began to take shape. John Colrain played for Celtic, Clyde, Ipswich Town, Glentoran & St. Patrick's Athletic and John Colrain - A Life in Football carries interviews, not only with Glentoran legends Trevor Thompson, Harry Creighton, Billy McKeag & Billy Sinclair but also Scottish internationals, Bertie Auld and Paddy Crerand.

John Colrain tragically passed away on 14th July 1987 from a heart attack, aged 47. The 188 page book costs £10 and all proceeds from sales will be donated to the British Heart Foundation

We hope to have copies available to buy online via the official website next week. Further details to follow.
