We have had it confirmed today that restrictions imposed on football due to the increased threat from Covid-19 have meant that the numbers permitted entry to Saturday’s home Danske Bank Premiership match will not be enough to accommodate all of our season ticket holders. This is fewer than was permitted in our last few pre-season games, but this is unavoidable given the necessity for the Northern Ireland Executive to impose more stringent restrictions on all aspects of society.
To ensure that each season ticket holder can attend as many home matches as possible, we have divided season ticket holders into three groups – A, B and C. The club has endeavoured to keep family or friend groups in the same group as far as possible.
Two of these groups will be permitted to attend each home game. If the restrictions persist beyond the current four weeks, it will be managed as follows:
- Saturday 24th October v Glenavon: Groups A and B.
- Saturday 7th November v Larne: Groups B and C.
- Saturday 14th November v Warrenpoint Town: Groups C & A
This means that every season ticket holder will be guaranteed admission to two out of each three home matches while the restrictions are in place.
To gain entry, it will be essential that supporters show both their season ticket and a card showing their group. It will be necessary for season ticket holders to collect their card on one of the following times:
- Thursday between 12 noon and 6pm from the Glentoran Superstore
- Friday between 10am and 4pm from the Secretary’s Office
- Saturday between 9am and 12 noon.
As announced earlier this week, all our home league matches this season will be streamed live unless televised by Sky or BBC. Arrangements have been made to allow those season tickets to view the match free of charge on their group’s odd week out. Season ticket holders in group C will receive an email on Friday will details of how to access the match free. That is why we asked all Season Ticket holders who did not supply email info at time of purchase, to send their email address to Ruth at seasontickets@glentoran.com without delay.
If restrictions are eased to permit all season ticket holders to future matches, we will announce it immediately.
