It is well known that during the season just passed the Club struggled financially to keep things going. Historical debt and reduced income lead to a very well documented difficult season off the pitch. However we have a great group of loyal and generous Supporters Clubs that show why Glentoran remain one of the best supported Club' in Northern Ireland and we want to thank you all for your financial support.
Here is just one example as John Scott Chairman of the Hillfoot Club presents a cheque for £1,000 to the Chairman, Terence Brannigan and Board member, Aubry Ralph.
The Chairman said "we very much appreciate all those Supporters Clubs who have given us financial support during the season. The Club has relied upon this type of support over the years but with the economic downturn we recognise that times are hard and the amounts donated are hard earned. Even though it is more difficult to raise funds we still appreciate and need every donation that is made. I want to thank John and the whole of the Hillfoot GSC for their generous and much needed donation.
Supporters are the life blood of any team and the number of people who work tirelessly week in week out to ensure we remain a major footballing force in local football are all very much appreciated by the whole Glentoran Family. Like other supporters clubs, Hillfoot GSC has their own building expenses to finance but they still recognised the link directly to the Club and once again I would like to thank them for their recent donation. For our part, the Board has worked hard to find a way through this difficult season as well as put plans in place for our future. So it just great to know that we can count on your support"
In reply John commented on the importance for all GSC's to help and ensure Glentoran FC remain one of the biggest and most successful Clubs in Northern Ireland saying "Just look at the fabulous day we all had on May 4th and the celebrations were fantastic. The majority of east Belfast is happy when Glentoran win and we are delighted to be able to help in our own small way. We look forward to next season and also getting involved in our plans for the future"
