Great Foodbank contribution from Glenman Colin

Sun, 02/05/2021 - 14:41

Glentoran Supporter Liaison Officer and GFC 1882 Director Colin Davidson recently undertook a very successful sponsored walk, raising £2,080 for the Larder Foodbank at St Christopher’s Church in Mersey Street. The photo above shows Colin presenting the cheque to Louise Hamilton at the Larder.

Colin shares his story: “I have been lucky enough to see most of the Glens matches this season and wanted to give something back to the community we represent. I jokingly said to members of my supporters’ club (Raven GSC) about doing a charity walk to Carrickfergus for the match at Taylor’s Avenue in March. I live in Newtownabbey but one of members of the club said it had to be from the Oval. So I decided to support the local foodbank given the impacts on jobs in the local area due to the pandemic and because unfortunately demand for their help is growing. I was overwhelmed with the support I received. Eventually I raised just over £2,000 including a very generous donation from GFC   Louise Hamilton from the larder explained the money would help provide more fresh food for the bank and also support their slow cooker project. I would encourage our support to help out with the really important community work that goes on at the larder”.
