Good luck to the Seconds

Mon, 24/12/2012 - 14:31

Glentoran Seconds will be looking to bring the Steel & Sons Cup back to the Oval on Christmas Day. Spike Hill's young side have had a magnificent season to date and will be looking to keep up their momentum by lifting the Steel & Sons Cup.

Spike Hill and the team are looking for a big turn out of Glentoran fans to cheer the team on. Ards will probably go into the game as favourites but a large, noisy Glentoran support would certainly boost the Seconds. Kick off at Seaview is 10:45am.

Unfortunately Willie Garrett misses the game through suspension. Had last Saturday's fixtures gone ahead, Garrett, who has progressed reight through the club's Academy system from the Under 10's to the first team, would have been eligible. Hopefully though the team can win this one for Willie.

Good luck to Spike Hill and the team.

The Seconds have won the Steel & Sons Cup on 13 previous occasions, 1904-05, 1908-09, 1910-11, 1914-15, 1918-19, 1932-33, 1937-38, 1957-58, 1964-65, 1965-66, 1988-89, 2000-01 and 2001-02.

The teams from 1909-09, 1937-38 and 1965-66 are shown below.
