Glentoran Women delivered another statement performance on Friday night, hitting five without reply past second-placed Crusaders Strikers to remain unbeaten and five points clear at the top of the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership.

It was a third win in just eight days for the in-form Glens, who followed up victories over Linfield and Derry City with another dominant display at the Blanchflower Stadium.

Northern Ireland international Kascie Weir opened the scoring inside seven minutes and doubled her tally less than a minute later to put the hosts firmly in control. Nadene Caldwell made it three with a composed chip over the goalkeeper, before Emma McMaster added a fourth before the break as Glentoran’s attacking quality overwhelmed the visitors.

While the tempo dipped slightly in the second half, the Glens remained in complete control, creating several chances before substitute Ellie Butler added a deserved fifth in stoppage time.

Glentoran have now taken maximum points from their opening fixtures and continue to set the pace at the summit of the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership.
