Glentoran Women made it two wins from two in Group B of the VBET Women’s League Cup with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Lisburn Rangers Ladies in horrendous weather conditions at Crewe Park in Glenavy.
In a first half dominated by driving rain and swirling wind, both sides battled bravely but struggled to find rhythm. Lisburn Rangers put in a spirited and resolute display to frustrate the Glens and limit chances in a tightly contested opening 45 minutes.

However, the visitors showed their quality after the break. Manager Kim Turner’s half-time changes injected fresh impetus and the breakthrough arrived on 63 minutes when Nadene Caldwell rose to meet a corner – her header squeezing under the goalkeeper to give the Glens a deserved lead.
That goal opened the door for a more dominant second-half showing, and 13 minutes later, Demi Vance delivered the moment of the match – a stunning left-footed half-volley from just inside the box that rocketed into the top corner to seal the points.
Despite a battling performance from Lisburn Rangers, Glentoran’s second-half control and clinical edge made the difference on the night.
The Glens now look ahead to their final Group B fixture – a decisive clash against Crusaders Strikers on Friday 2nd May at the Danny Blanchflower Stadium – as they aim to secure top spot and progress to the knockout stages.
