Sun 16 Nov 2025, 12:09

Glentoran Women celebrated another remarkable season on Saturday evening as players, families, supporters and partners gathered for an End of Season Awards ceremony at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Belfast.

Hosted by BBC NI presenter Nicola McCarthy and attended by Glentoran owner Ali Pour, the prestigious event brought together the entire Glentoran family to celebrate the achievements across the Women’s First Team and U19 Academy throughout the 2025 season.

Kim Turner’s side clinched the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership title in dramatic fashion, defeating Cliftonville 1–0 in a final-day showdown at the Blanchflower Stadium.

The First Team continued to make a significant impact on the international stage, with five players featuring for the Northern Ireland Senior Women’s team during the recent UEFA Women’s Nations League campaign.

Club captain Nadene Caldwell, along with Emily Wilson, Kascie Weir, Aimee Kerr and Mia Moore all received call-ups, with Moore making her senior international debut against Iceland in the UEFA Women’s Nations League A/B play-off.

The First Team honours produced a standout group of winners, with Jess Foy receiving the coveted Players’ Player of the Year award following a season of exceptional leadership and consistency at the heart of the Glentoran defence

There was double success for Emily Wilson, who collected both Manager’s Player of the Year and Goal of the Season for her outstanding strike against Cliftonville.

Kascie Weir claimed the Top Goal Scorer award after a prolific season in front of goal, while rising star Sofie Keenan was named Young Player of the Year following an impressive breakthrough year.

First Team Coach, Steven Patterson, received the Special Recognition Award for his long-standing service, commitment and contribution to Glentoran Women.

The U19 Award winners included Caitie McGurnaghan (Manager’s Player of the Year), Emma Gardener (Players’ Player of the Year), Sophie McKnight (Leading Goal Scorer), Mia Leonard (Most Improved Player), Clodagh Maguire (Goal of the Season), and Erin Stewart and Lilly Jeffrey (Merit Awards).

Ali Pour, Owner of Glentoran Football club, said: “This has been an outstanding season for the Glentoran Women’s team and a proud moment for everyone connected to the club. The success of the First Team reflects not only the quality of the players, but the commitment, professionalism and culture that continues to grow across the entire women’s football operation under Kim, from the Academy through to the senior squad and the Scholarship Programme.

“We are incredibly proud to have Kim leading this area of the club, and equally proud of every player who represents Glentoran with such passion and integrity. Tonight is about recognising their achievements and celebrating everything they have contributed on and off the pitch.”

Kim Turner, Head Coach of Glentoran Women, said: “I am immensely proud of every player and every member of staff across our women’s programme. From the Academy to the First Team and the Scholarship Programme, the commitment shown this season has been outstanding. Winning the league, reaching a cup final and seeing our players step onto the international stage reflects the standards everyone at Glentoran works to every single day.

“Tonight is about celebrating those achievements, but it is also about recognising the many unsung heroes who make this programme possible. Our volunteers, our support staff, our sponsors and of course Ali. I want to thank each of them, as well as everyone who helped bring this brilliant evening together.

“We are proud of what we have achieved, but we know there is still so much more ahead of us. We will continue to build, develop and strengthen every aspect of the women’s operation to ensure Glentoran remains at the highest level of the game.”
