Glentoran Women’s bid to reclaim the Irish FA Women’s Challenge Cup came to an end on Friday evening as Linfield ran out 5–1 winners in the Quarter-Final at Midgley Park.
Two early goals left the Glens with work to do, but Mia Moore responded with an outstanding long-range finish to bring the tie back into contention. Moments later, the side came close to levelling when Demi Vance was denied from the penalty spot and an effort was cleared off the line in quick succession.
Those missed chances proved crucial as Linfield added a third early in the second half and were able to take advantage as Glentoran chased the game.
Despite the disappointment, there were periods of strong attacking play from the Glens, who smacked the crossbar on two separate occasions as they pressed to get back into the game.
