Glentoran Women 7-1 Derry City Women

Sat, 15/06/2024 - 00:53

Another Kerry Beattie hat trick led the way tonight as with this comprehensive home victory, Glentoran Women  when joint top of the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership after 4 games (alongside Cliftonville Ladies and Lisburn Rangers Ladies). Goal difference doesn’t apply in this free scoring league.

The only change to the starting line up from Monday’s win over Crusaders Strikers was the inclusion of recent signing Aimee Kerr in midfield for the injured Nadene Caldwell.

Kerry Beattie opened the scoring for the defending champions from the edge of the area after just seven minutes, with Chloe McCarron doubling up a few moments later.

Beattie struck again with just under a quarter of an hour on the clock before Joely Andrews knocked home a fourth ten minutes after that. Emily Wilson opened her account for the evening with 7 minutes to go in the first half .

Two more were added after the break through Beattie’s hat trick goal and a stunning strike for Emily Wilson on the hour mark. These goals gave Head Coach Kim Turner the opportunity to give young substitutes their opportunity to perform and all took advantage with strong contributions. The only disappointment of the evening was conceding to lose the clean sheet a minute into injury time.

Next up for the Glens is an away trip to play joint table toppers Lisburn Rangers Ladies next Friday (21st June),
