Glentoran Women 2-2 Linfield Ladies

Thu, 27/10/2022 - 00:38

Glentoran’s two-year tenure as Danske Bank Women’s Premiership Champions came to an end despite this late fightback against Linfield at Ashfield to night

The Glens fought back from being two goals down to rescue a draw against, but it was not enough to keep our hopes of retaining the title alive.

Goals in either half from Keri Halliday and Emily Reid had given the Blues a two-goal lead but a Louise McFrederick own goal and Caragh Hamilton equaliser ensured the points were shared.

The Glens needed a win tonight and for Cliftonville to drop points against Crusaders at Seaview to turn next week’s final league game into a title decider. But the Reds’ late winner rendered tonight’s result at Ashfield and next week’s game meaningless.

However with the County Antrim Cup in the Bag and the Electric Irish Cup Final ahead of us on 5th October, there’s still another major trophy to play for.
