Glentoran Football Club is proud to unveil its new home kit for the 2026/27 season, inspired by one of the most iconic shirts ever worn by the Glens.

The design takes inspiration from the legendary Glentoran jersey worn during the 1992/93 season, a shirt that many supporters still regard as one of the Club’s all-time classics.

Worn during the 1992/93 season, including Glentoran’s memorable European Cup tie against Marseille, the shirt remains one of the most recognisable designs in the Club’s history and continues to hold a special place in the hearts of supporters more than three decades later.

Across two unforgettable nights in Belfast and Marseille, the Glens competed against a side featuring some of the biggest names in world football, including Didier Deschamps, Marcel Desailly, Fabien Barthez, Rudi Völler and Basile Boli.

That Marseille team would go on to lift the European Cup later that season, underlining the calibre of opposition faced by the Glens.

The launch campaign brings together Glentoran legends Barney Bowers and Andy Mathieson, both members of the side that faced Marseille in 1992, alongside current men’s captain Marcus Kane, midfielder James Singleton and Glentoran Women’s stars Demi Vance and Aimee Kerr.

Representing the past, present and future of the Club, they reflect the connection between generations of players and supporters who have helped shape Glentoran’s story.

Developed in collaboration with Macron’s specialist design team in Italy, the 2026/27 home kit combines retro-inspired design cues with modern performance technology, creating a shirt that pays tribute to the Club’s heritage while reflecting the ambition of today’s Glentoran.

The shirt features a stitched Glentoran crest, premium detailing throughout and the Club’s historic motto, “Le Jeu Avant Tout” (“The Game Before All Else”), embroidered beneath the collar on the reverse of the shirt.

As part of Macron’s commitment to sustainability, the kit is manufactured using Eco Fabric technology and produced entirely from recycled materials.

Ruth McCreery, Director of Glentoran Football Club, said: “Every football club has certain shirts that instantly transport supporters back to a particular moment in time. For Glentoran, the 1992 shirt is undoubtedly one of them.

“When we visited Macron’s headquarters in Italy last year and began discussing the inspiration for this season’s home kit, that shirt was always part of the conversation. It holds a special place in the hearts of so many supporters and we felt there was an opportunity to celebrate that while creating something for a new generation.

“Our aim was never to recreate the original design. Instead, we wanted to capture the spirit of it. Every detail was carefully considered throughout the design process to ensure we respected the heritage of the shirt while delivering something modern and distinctive for today’s Glentoran.

“It’s also a shirt that carries a very special personal connection for me. It’s my brother’s favourite Glentoran jersey of all time and, when my son was just a month old, it was the first Glentoran shirt I bought for him. That says everything about what this design means to our family and, I know, to so many supporters across generations.

“Working alongside Macron’s design team has been a fantastic experience and we’re incredibly proud of the final result. The reaction from supporters whenever this shirt is mentioned tells you everything you need to know about what it means to people, and I have no doubt this new version will strike the same chord.”

The new 2026/27 Home Kit goes on sale online at www.glentoransuperstore.com and in-store at the Glentoran Superstore from 10am on Saturday 20th June.
