Glentoran Seconds were presented with the NIFL Premiership Development League trophy at last night’s Sports Direct Premiership fixture against Larne, following an outstanding 2025/26 campaign.

Having already secured the title with a game to spare, the on pitch presentation at the BetMcLean Oval, led by NIFL Chief Operating Officer Steven Mills, provided fitting recognition for a group that has set the standard through consistency, attacking quality and defensive resilience.

The Glens were crowned champions after a commanding victory over Portadown Reserves at Shamrock Park on Thursday 9th April, a result that confirmed top spot and underlined the strength of their performances across the campaign.

Attention now turns to the final fixture of the campaign, as Glentoran Seconds host Glenavon Reserves on Wednesday 22nd April at Ashfield Boys’ High School.

A win would see the side finish on 82 points, while more than two goals would take them beyond the 100 goal mark. Having conceded just 39 goals, the team is also on course to end the season with the league’s strongest defensive record.

Cal Weatherup and James McClure have led the way in front of goal, playing key roles in a squad that continues to progress, with several players adding this title to their Harry Cavan Youth Cup success in 2024/25.

A huge congratulations must go to Reserve Team Manager James Dickson and his coaching team of Andy Mathieson, Willie Garrett, David Bryson and Michael Brown.

A thoroughly deserved title success and clear evidence of the strength and progression within Glentoran’s player pathway.
