Glentoran Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of long-standing supporter John McConnell.
John passed away on Saturday 7th March at the age of 65. A familiar face around The Oval for many years, he was a valued member of the Hillfoot Glentoran Supporters’ Club, first joining as an associate member before becoming a full member and a loyal season ticket holder.
John was also a dedicated member of the club’s Monday Club, the group of volunteers who meet each week to help maintain and improve The Oval. From resetting the ground after matchdays to carrying out jobs around the stadium that often go unseen, John was always willing to give his time to help the club he loved.
John is survived by his wife Flo, daughters Michelle and Lyndsey, son Gary and the wider family circle.
Everyone at Glentoran Football Club extends sincere condolences to John’s family, friends and fellow supporters at this sad time.
