Glentoran Legends to speak at East Belfast book launch

Tue 31 Mar 2026, 12:00

A limited number of tickets remain available for the launch of Nearly… Glentoran in the 21st Century, a new book by Ian Clarke celebrating the Club’s modern era.

The event will take place at the Sanctuary Theatre in the heart of East Belfast on Wednesday 8th April, starting at 7:00pm.

The evening will feature an in-depth interview with the author, followed by an audience Q&A, offering insight into the inspiration behind the book and its key conclusions.

A major highlight of the event will be a special panel discussion chaired by respected football journalist Mark McIntosh, featuring a number of iconic Glentoran figures from the period covered in the book:

  • Colin Nixon – former Glentoran captain and record appearance holder (1995–2013)
  • Eddie Patterson – Irish Cup-winning manager (2012–2015)
  • Elliott Morris – longest-serving first-team player (2002–2022) and current Goalkeeping Coach
  • Scott Young – midfielder (1998–2006) and double trophy-winning manager (2010–2012)
  • George Neill – 531 appearances for the Club and former Assistant Manager under Alan McDonald during Glentoran’s last league-winning campaign
  • Grahame Jenkins – former Glentoran Director (2011–2022)

Each panellist contributed candid interviews to the book, and this event marks a rare opportunity to hear directly from key figures who helped shape Glentoran’s recent history.

Never before has such a group been brought together for a Glentoran-focused event.

Admission is free, however places are limited. Supporters are encouraged to register in advance via TicketSource: https://share.google/W4QtfXQeZdIcEQQ6a

Copies of Nearly… Glentoran in the 21st Century, will be available to purchase on the night and directly from the author following publication.

The book will also be available in the Glentoran Superstore from the home fixture against Dungannon Swifts on Saturday 19th April.
