Glentoran today held its annual Remembrance Day Service at The BetMcLean Oval, bringing together players, staff, supporters and members of the East Belfast community to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of others.
The service, conducted by Rev. Jonny Frazer, began at 10.45am and featured wreath laying at the Club’s memorial, accompanied by a piper and bugler. As the clock struck 11.00am, the stadium fell silent in a moment of collective reflection and respect.
Colin Jess, Chairman of Glentoran, said: “Remembrance Day is a time for reflection and a moment for us all to pause and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. It was moving to see so many people gather at The BetMcLean Oval this morning to pay tribute to those who served. As a club rooted in the East Belfast community, Glentoran is proud to uphold this tradition each year and to ensure that the bravery and selflessness of those who gave so much will never be forgotten.”
