A hard-fought contest at Lakeview Park saw Glentoran battle back to secure a point, as they missed an opportunity to climb to third in the Sports Direct Premiership.
Glentoran took an early lead through Dylan Connolly, but Loughgall struck back twice in the first half to lead 2-1 at the break. A clinical second-half strike from Charlie Lindsay ensured the Glens salvaged a point in what was a hotly contested match.
Despite dominating large periods of the second half, the Glens were unable to find a decisive breakthrough and had to settle for a 2-2 draw against a spirited Loughgall side, who remain bottom of the table.
The Glens got off to the perfect start, with Connolly netting the opener in the second minute. Jordan Jenkins’ pressing forced an error from Gil Gartside in the home goal, giving him the opportunity to calmly set up Connolly, who slotted home with precision.
However, the lead was cancelled out almost immediately, with Loughgall equalising a minute later. A great ball from Nathaniel Ferris on the wide left picked out the alert Lewis Francis in the six-yard box, who finished confidently to level the score.
The frantic start ensured both teams were eager to add to the scoring, but it was the Villagers who struck next. A looping free-kick in the 21st minute was delivered invitingly into the Glentoran penalty box, and Ferris took full advantage, tapping home from close range to make it 2-1.
Glentoran were unlucky not to be level three minutes later. An excellent delivery from the ever-reliable Danny Amos picked out Jay Donnelly, who turned home a smart close-range finish, only to be denied by the offside flag.
The major disappointment for Glentoran in the first half came when Cammy Palmer was forced to leave the field with a recurring injury on his first game back. He received a standing ovation from the away support as he was replaced by Charlie Lindsay.
Both teams traded chances before the break, but the Villagers held onto their 2-1 lead at the interval.

The Glens emerged for the second half with Declan Devine opting to replace Frankie Hvid, who was nursing a broken nose, with Kodi Lyons-Foster in the centre of defence.
The visitors looked increasingly likely to equalise after the restart. A well-delivered corner from Amos in the 48th minute was headed just over by Lyons-Foster, and Amos himself sent a fizzing drive just wide shortly after. James Singleton maintained the pressure with a well-struck effort, but it was straight at the keeper.
Shortly after the manager introduced David Fisher for Donnelly, Glentoran found their equaliser to make it 2-2. A slick passing move culminated in the ball reaching Jenkins on the left flank. He delivered a pinpoint cross, and Lindsay, surging into the box, fired an emphatic finish into the corner.
Glentoran pushed hard for a winner in the remaining 25 minutes, but despite their efforts, they had to settle for a point at Lakeview Park. This result leaves the Glens in fifth place in the Sports Direct Premiership, with 28 points from 19 matches.
The Glens now turn their attention to a crucial BetMcLean League Cup tie on Tuesday night against Linfield at the National Stadium, before hosting Ballymena United next Saturday in a Sports Direct Premiership fixture at the BetMcLean Oval.
