Glentoran Director and lifelong supporter Colin Davidson is once again going the extra mile for charity as he prepares to run from The BetMcLean Oval to Bangor’s Clandeboye Park ahead of the Sports Direct Premiership fixture on Friday 28th November.
Colin’s latest endurance challenge will raise vital funds for the Glentoran Social Partnership, supporting its mission to help local families and individuals most in need across East Belfast and beyond this festive season.
A passionate advocate for community causes, Colin has already completed a series of endurance events in recent years to support charities close to his heart, including Disability Sport NI, the Ulster Hospital Maternity Unit and The Larder Foodbank, which operates beside The Oval.
The Newtownabbey man’s efforts so far have raised over £10,000 and his commitment to giving back has made him a proud ambassador for Glentoran’s off-the-pitch efforts to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
Funds raised from Colin’s challenge will go directly towards Glentoran Social Partnership providing hot meals, hampers and gift packs to households, pensioners and vulnerable individuals in time for Christmas.
Supporters and members of the wider public are invited to show their support by donating through the Glentoran Social Partnership’s JustGiving page: https://tinyurl.com/2hsxv7bu
Colin Davidson, Director of Glentoran, said: “I’ve recently been getting back into running again after taking a bit of a break. I’m not as young as I used to be, but I still find it a great way to keep myself fit, clear my head and give something back to a cause that really matters to me.
“Glentoran has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I love what the club stands for, both on and off the pitch. The work of the Social Partnership throughout the year makes a real difference to people right across our community, and I’m proud to play a small part in supporting that.
“This run is about helping the team continue that work over the festive period and hopefully encouraging others to get involved too. Whether it’s through a donation or simply by spreading the word, every bit of support helps.”
The Glentoran Social Partnership generates an estimated £2.9 million in social value every year, engaging more than 3,500 people across East Belfast and beyond through a diverse range of community programmes.
The Glentoran Social Partnership was recently recognised at the 2025 NIFL Football Awards, winning Club Community Initiative of the Year for its outstanding work in promoting health, wellbeing, and inclusion across East Belfast and beyond. It also received the Community Impact Award at the 2024 EastSide Awards
