Glentoran 1 - 2 St Johnstone

Sat, 09/07/2016 - 19:34

An experimental Glentoran squad gave a good account of themselves against Scottish Premier League side St Johnstone at the Oval this afternoon.  The visitors took the lead after just two minutes through Steven MacLean, but Chris Lavery levelled on 22 minutes with a well placed shot from the edge of the box.  Glentoran manager Alan Kernaghan substituted all eleven players at half time and the second half line up included only three players with first team experience, Elliott Morris, Calum Birney and Patrick Cafolla.  However the young side stood up well against their full time opponents and it took an 81st minute goal from Chris Kane after a good turn in the box to give the visitors a narrow victory.
