Glentoran Women produced a commanding display to defeat Linfield 3-0 at the Danny Blanchflower Stadium and return to the summit of the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership.
Linfield came closest in the early stages when Jodie Loughrey struck the crossbar after Ashleigh McKinnon had denied Eve Reilly, but it was the Glens who took control. On 16 minutes, Demi Vance sent a precise ball over the top for Emily Wilson, who made no mistake to give the home side the lead.
Six minutes after the restart Glentoran doubled their advantage. Vance was again the provider, this time delivering a superb cross from the left which Aimee Kerr met with a looping header beyond goalkeeper Lauren Currie.
The win was sealed late on when Kerr’s persistence down the right created the opening for Wilson to finish from close range for her second of the match.
The result sees Glentoran move two points clear of Cliftonville at the top of the table, with three fixtures remaining after the league split.
