Glentoran kicked-off their All-Island Cup campaign in impressive fashion with a 3-1 win over Bohemians at Dalymount Park.
Bohs had knocked the Glens out of the competition at the quarter-final stage last season, but Kim Turner’s side made amends in perfect fashion on Saturday afternoon.
Aimee Kerr got the visitors off to the perfect start, firing home the opener on the quarter hour.
It stayed that way until the break, with the Glens adding two more after the restart through Demi Vance and substitute Rachel Rogan before the hosts grabbed a late consolation.
Glentoran started full of confidence off the back of their 2-0 win over Lisburn Ladies in their midweek Sports Direct Women’s Cup opener.
And they made their impressive early play pay dividends as they took the lead inside 15 minutes thanks to Kerr’s strike.
It was nip and tuck for the remainder of the first half, with the Glens going into the break with their one-goal advantage intact.
Glentoran continued to take the game to their hosts in the second half and doubled their advantage when Demi Vance found the net to make it 2-0.
The Oval side weren’t done just yet however as Rogan came off the bench to grab the third and seal an impressive opening-day victory.
