Glentoran maintained their 100% start to the season with an impressive 4-1 win at Crusaders in the Boyle Sports Women’s Cup.
After seeing off Lisburn Ladies in their opening fixture the Glens made it back-to-back wins in the competition thanks to goals from Jenna McKearney and Nadene Caldwell either side of a brace from Faye Loughran.
McKearney’s early goal was followed up by the first of Loughghran’s double before the half hour.
The hosts pulled a goal back at the start of the second half before Loughran and Caldwell’s spectacular strike from distance secured the victory.
It took the visitors only two minutes to get their noses in front at Seaview as McKearney fired them in front.
The Glens doubled their lead on 27 minutes when Loughran fired in from close range from Demi Vance’s corner.
With no further goal in the first half Glentoran took their two-goal advantage into the break.
The hosts pulled a goal back at the start of the second to give them some hope of getting back into the game.
But those hopes were extinguished in the 64th minute when Loughran netted her second of the game to restore the visitors’ two-goal advantage.
And they wrapped up the win in style with 16 minutes to go as Caldwell fired in from 30 yards to complete the scoring.
