Glentoran Women produced a superb second-half comeback to defeat derby rivals Linfield Women 4-2 at Blanchflower Stadium and maintain the pressure on Sports Direct Women’s Premiership leaders Cliftonville.

Eva Myles gave the visitors a first-half lead, but four Glentoran goals after the break turned the game on its head and moved the reigning champions to within five points of the summit with three fixtures remaining.

Linfield Women broke the deadlock in the 13th minute when Myles found the net to put the Blues ahead.

Kim Turner’s side pushed for a response before the interval, but the visitors held firm to take their slender advantage into half-time.

Glentoran Women emerged with renewed purpose and drew level three minutes after the restart through Faye Loughran.

Within 60 seconds, the turnaround was complete as Nadene Caldwell struck to put the hosts ahead.

Linfield Women responded in the 55th minute when Cora Chambers restored parity, but the Glens regained the lead just three minutes later through Kelly Crompton.

The home side continued to press for the goal that would make the points safe, with Naomi McLaughlin completing the scoring with a wonderful strike deep into stoppage time.

The victory keeps Glentoran Women firmly in the title race as the league enters its final three fixtures, with the Glens scheduled to face Cliftonville at Solitude on the final day of the season.
