Glens supporters went home a lot happier than of late as a Daire O’Connor hat trick and another double from David Fisher let the way in this demolition of bottom placed Newry City at the Bet McLean Oval.

Aaron McCarey‘s return in goal was the only change in last week’s starting like up but the crowds also welcomed the return of James Singleton to the squad, after missing our last 10 games through injury.

On Saturday we welcome Newry City to the Bet McLean Oval for game 28 of this season’s Sports Direct Premiership.

Newry City will be seeking to end a run of 17 games without a Premiership win - stretching back to October 7th when they won 2-0 at fellow strugglers Ballymena United - as they visit the Oval for the second time this season.

Contract News: David Fisher extends his contract with Glentoran

Glentoran FC is delighted to announce that our striker David Fisher has extended his contract for another year in the face of extensive interest from a number of clubs inside and outside Northern Ireland. This will keep David at the Bet McLean Oval until the end of the 2024/25 season.

David (22) joined us from AFC Wimbledon in the last summer transfer window, and since he settled into the team has scored 11 goals, including 7 in our last 6 games to become a very important player for us and a very popular figure among our supporters.
